Mel grew up in the north country close to nature and still spends as much time as possible outdoors and combines that with his passion for photography. In grade school he first heard that there were only 16 wild
whooping cranes left in the world and that they were expected to be
extinct soon. He has followed their progress for the last 60 years
and recently had the great pleasure of spending a whole day at
Arransas NWR photographing them,an experience that he never expected
to have!
